RE: Warning about carrying a lot of cash ( esp.Canadians)

Sounds like an urban legand to me!
Two groups of Canadians from the same campground robbed of large amounts of cash in the same Georgia welcome center?
I dont` think so!
As far as Canadians being unarmed,I would rather give up a good chunk of cash than become embroiled in the American judicial system as a foreigner for shooting an American citizen.

RE: Vent cover question

Yes, these are the Maxaire 2 covers.
I think you are right about the lip keeping the water out.
Thanks to all who replied.

RE: Swine Flu Vaccine?

If I did not realize that there were no computers five hundred years ago,
I would think that some of the posts regarding not getting the vacine came from the sixteenth century!
Why would any rational person not take adavantage of every opportunity to protect their selves and family?

Vent cover question

We have a 2005 Keystone Springdale fifth wheel.
I am going to install the Maxaire vent covers.
My problem is, the front vent, over the bed, is on the roof area that slopes to the front.
If I install the cover facing the rear, it will be tipped up about twenty degrees.
Do you think that this will be far enough off level to allow rain through the louvers?
As the unit is permanetly on a lot, will not be moved, should I attempt to reverse the hatch cover so that it is facing ahead?
Any input appreciated.

RE: Canadian flag in Florida?

I am presently sitting in my Florida trailer, flagless, thank you very much.
While most replies to my original question were both reasonable and supportive,
there were enough who think otherwise that my wife and I have decided that displaying a flag, Canadian or otherwise is probably not a good idea.
To the poster who fears me invading "his" campground, fear not, we are quite happy where we are and have no plans to move.

RE: What would you pay?

When we bought our consignment fiver in Florida last spring,
we went to see if we could get insurance on it.
The insurance co told us what they would insure the rig for, we offered exactly that, the seller came back five hundred higher, which we had anticipated, we accepted his price and that was that.
Might be something to consider if you are unsure of a fair price.

RE: My Canadian friends, can you please help me?

I am not a cold weather person.
I would give serious consideration to finding a small apt or even a room in a home.
That said, go for it.
I turned twenty one at Lake Louise, Alberta.
The only birthday that I can still recall over fifty years later!

RE: My Canadian friends, can you please help me?

Cost of living is very steep in Canada and it gets very cold. Unless they are offering a salary many times over and above your US salary, it is not what it appears to be. Your sewer and water would freeze up when you want them to work the most. Bad plan! IMHO
And yet, after all you have said, it seems to me that the average middle class Canadsian lives every bit as well as his American counterpart.
I have many American friends, have been in many of their homes.
I cannot see where they live any better than I , if one listens to them talk, I think that in many ways I am better off than they!

RE: Are we breaking a law?

"Contrary to some posts above, IMHO the law is pretty clear the vehicle cannot be in the U.S. more than 1 year but that is not your situation."
Do you have a link for that?
My friend leaves his Canadian plated fifth wheel on a lot in Florida.
Are you saying that this is contravining some law?

Good one Sea Dog, keep in mind we only allow mink bedding at our upscale RV resorts...........................
Well sometimes one just has to laugh!
After reading some of the misconceptions posted here, one would think that Canada was some mysterious land on the other side of the world
instead of a civilized country less than a days drive away for millions of Americans.

RE: Campground Discrimination

Hi, sounds familiar... I heard that about getting into CANADA, because of the BEDDING.. Some policy or guidelines... Reach out to a person named DEEN who lives up north west and appears to be very knowledgeable..
Deen - Vancouver, WA
You can find Deen on this post
Yes, thanks for the heads up!
Many American travelers do not realize that cotton or linen bedding is banned in Canada.
Only moose and buffalo hides are allowed, altho some of the upper crust do sleep on beaver pelts.
This ruling, strange as it may seem, is in place to protect the incomes of the hunters and trappers, the backbone of Canadian industry.
Not to worry, every border crossing into Canada has rental outlets where one can obtain the hides of their choice for use during their Canadian vaction.
Come up and enjoy!
Eh!

RE: Pathetic Salesman

Could this have been a suit/owner who layed off all the other salesmen and he was the only one left? You know the boss never really understands how things work in the real world.
Yup!
The stupid owner/boss!
Must be millions of them!
Matter of fact, there are so many that most employees, altho they are much smarter than the boss, will remain just that, an employee.
Hardly seems fair somehow.

RE: Lippert frames

Lippert seems to have done ok on my frame overall. I don't see any huge issues but I don't care for some of the undercut weld beads and some "blow thru" at the ends/starts of welds on the thinner brackets (non structual).
They did fail miserably on the axles. Both were replaced when new becuase of a terrible mis-alignment.
I am not a certified weder!
However, I have burned up a lot of rod.
If you dont` have a little "blow through" on the start with light material, your heat is not high enough for a good weld.
With cooler temps, you will have a pretty bead, however, it will be sitting up on top of the work, not penetrated down in to make a strong joint.

I usually decide at the last minute before reaching the bypass.
Anyway, I really do not understand the HOV lane system, are you saying that two people in a car can use this lane at any time?

RE: Walmart brand motor oil.

I have a friend in Maryland who spent his career in refinery's and packing facilities.
He said that when bottling oil, they would run one refinery's label until the order was filled, switch bottles and keep right going.
Same as canning factories, I worked in one as a kid, you would be amazed how many brands contain the exact same ingredient!
